This week I delivered an invited talk to my biggest audience yet, around 800 people (+ a video live stream to the University of Helsinki). The event was Y Science, the official life science event of SLUSH, the world’s leading startup event in Helsinki, Finland, with over 20,000 attendees! During my talk, I presented the current state of the field of mammalian synthetic biology with its power and potential. Among the examples for this were my research into coffee-regulated diabetes treatments as well as CAR-T cells as the first FDA-approved synthetic biology-inspired cell-based cancer therapy. Even more exciting for me was the fact that all the other invited academic speakers were professors! I hope to obtain the video footage of my talk to upload it here or on YouTube some time soon.
