Ever wonder what the difference between a cocktail & a mocktail is? Except the, you know, consciousness-modifying qualities of alcohol. Their taste and aroma. Ethanol, the main alcohol in drinks, has its own distinct taste. And since it usually makes up at least 10% of your drink, you will notice the taste of ethanol. Next to this obvious effect, there exists a slightly more subtle effect: the interaction of water and ethanol.
Depending on the ratio of water and alcohol, different structures of interaction emerge and this quite substantially modifies the aroma of your drink. All this, and more, you can find in my recent article about the topic, published at Medium and LinkedIn Publishing. Extend your knowledge and then apply it with a well-deserved drink!
